Ingredients

  • 1 bell pepper; diced

  • 1 onion; diced

  • 2 carrots; shredded

  • 3 cloves garlic; minced

  • 1lb ground beef

  • 1/2lb ground sausage

  • 2 tsp garlic powder

  • 2 tsp onion powder

  • 28oz crushed tomatoes

  • 15oz can diced tomatoes

  • 15oz can tomato sauce

  • 2 cups mushrooms

  • Handful basil

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • 1/2 cup dry red wine

  • 4 cups beef broth

  • 2 cups spinach

  • 12oz lasagna noodles; broken into pieces

  • Toppings:
  • Ricotta

  • Shredded Mozzarella

  • Chopped Basil

Directions

  • To a large bowl mix sausage & beef with the garlic powder and onion powder
  • In a large skillet, brown the meat until cooked through; about 7 minutes; drain the fat
  • Add in the peppers, onions, and carrots. Sauté for about 5 minutes or until tender. Then add in the garlic and cook another minute.
  • Transfer to the slow cooker and add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, mushrooms, basil, red wine, beef broth, and salt and pepper
  • Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours
  • Prepare the pasta about 15 minutes before time is up. Also, add in the spinach and a bit of parmesan cheese.
  • Stir in the pasta and top with ricotta, mozzarella and basil and enjoy!
